As people get older and develop health and mobility problems it becomes more difficult to have a social life outside of the home.  Coupled with the fact that relatives and friends may have moved away, this can make a person feel very vulnerable and lonely.

Age Concern Woking tries to help alleviate these feelings by arranging for a volunteer to make regular visits offering friendship and support.

These visits often result in lasting friendships.

We also provide short-term friends to give support at times of trauma or illness, or to cover when the usual volunteer has a holiday. All our volunteers are reference, police checked and interviewed by us. We also monitor friendships on a regular basis .

If you, or someone you know, would like a regular visit please give us a call. Or if you would like to know more about becoming a volunteer, please complete the form on our “Volunteer” page or give us a call on 01483 770753 or email us at by clicking this link.
