Statistics show that older citizens are most at risk from fires in the home. Home Fire Risk Checks are a major part of our service. They take less than an hour to carry out, and could save a life.
Our volunteers receive extensive training from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service which enables them to look out for danger areas in the home, advise on basic fire precautions and bedtime safety routines. They also give advice regarding electrical equipment. An overloaded electric socket, an electric blanket for example – all these can cause a fire.
The volunteers will help you plan a means of escape if a fire break out in your home or give advice on staying safe until firemen arrive.
Free smoke detectors may also be provided where necessary
